Making this piece was an attempt to awaken some part of my inner child. To remember how it felt to look forward and learn patience and see how time passes led me to create this paper chain. I felt motivated to make the paper myself both to learn a new skill and to feel more deeply connected to the material. I also felt unenthused by the process of counting down days by ripping off a paper link and throwing it in the garbage. I wanted to make this linear process cyclical. I feel that my pessimistic optimism leads me to make work that deals with the fragility of stability and balance.
